Chainrings

Thorne Products founder Stu Thorne knows cyclocross. After over two decades on the bike, in the pits and in the trenches, Stu has learned a thing or two about how the sport works, and what works best in the world of Cyclocross.

After years in Europe, Stu realized that there was a real need for cyclocross specific chainrings. So Stu set to work creating the ultimate cyclocross specific chainrings, and what emerged was the Koksijde. With gearing tailed specifically to cyclocross, Thorne Koksijde chainrings will never leave you looking for the right gear. With the widest array of sizes and bolt diameters on the market, Thorne Koksijde chainrings are just what your bike needs.

Made out of high-grade aluminum, Thorne chainrings are made in the USA, but their soul was forged in the sand, mud and snow of Europe.

Thorne chainrings are available exclusively at Cyclocrossworld.com.

KOKSIJDE OUTER CHAINRING

The ideal cyclocross setup has two chainrings. A front derailleur provides extra chain security on bumpy cyclocross course, and can help recover a dropped chain, while an outer chainring provides extra gear options for those power courses. In this day and age, an outer ring is an essential on any cyclocross bike.

The Koksijde outer ring is ramped and pinned for crisp, accurate shifting. On the outside, it features a chain drop pin, to help keep the chain nearby while you try to recover any chain derailment. Made out of high-grade aluminum, the Koksijde outer ring is light and durable. It’s compatible with 8-, 9- and 10-speed shifting systems, and comes in 110 mm (Compact), 130 mm (Shimano/SRAM Standard) and 135 mm (Campagnolo) BCD. Available in 42T, 44T and 46T. Made in the USA.

KOKSIJDE INNER CHAINRING

The prefect compliment to the Koksijde outer chainring, the Koksijde inner chainring comes in one tooth count – 38 – and is the same super high quality as its bigger brother. No ramps and pins to be found here, which helps to keep weight down. The 38T gearing is one tooth smaller than the standard 39T chainrings that come with road cranksets. This gearing gives you better ratios for cyclocross, when paired with any of the Koksijde outer chainrings.

KOKSIJDE SINGLE CHAINRING

The ultimate in chainring simplicity. When you don’t want to worry about shifting, the Koksijde single ring is the perfect choice. No ramps or pins to be found, since you don’t need them, nor does it have any offset. When all you want is for your chain to stay in place, and not have to worry about it, the Koksijde single ring is there for you. 40- and 42-tooth options give you the right mix of gearing so you’re never left searching.

WETZIKON CHAINRING GAURD

There’s more to a single chainring setup than the single chainring. Once your gearing is set to go, make sure your chain won’t drop off the outboard side of your cranks with a Wetzikon chainring guard. Your chain will stay safe and secure, while it will remain protected from impact thanks to the Wetzikon’s sturdy, machined aluminum construction.

Machined recesses for the chainring bolts give these rings a clean finished look when mounted. The inner edge of the circumference is chamfered so that there is less chance the chain can catch the edge and derail. These guards are thick enough to withstand flexing, yet not so thick that they weigh a ton. Cyclocross chainring guards are not “bash” guards. They are meant to guide the chain and prevent it from falling off.

Made out of 2024 alloy, the Wetzikon single ring is light and durable. The Wetzikon comes in 110 mm (Compact), 130 mm (Shimano/SRAM Standard) and 135 mm (Campagnolo) BCD. Available in 36T (110 mm only), 38T, 42T and 44T. Made in the USA.
